My Running Boys

Josh decided to participate in track this spring.

He was committed to practices but warned me before his first meet that he wasn't the fastest on the team.  Bless his heart!  He wasn't, he was the slowest, but I was oh so proud of him!
I was so impressed with his spirit and determination.

He ran both the 800 meter and the mile at the meets.
He was always last but was never discouraged.
After each meet he would just say he wanted to improve his time...that was his only goal.

At his second meet he tripped a couple of times on his shoelaces that had come undone but kept getting up and finished his race.
Here, his friend Donny is trying to help him undo his mess of a knot in his shoelace.

He got pretty scraped up so the trainer came over and patched him up afterward.

He never quit, never said he didn't want to participate anymore...

Just kept running his races...

and crossing the finish lines.
Love Him!!!

Spring sports awards night came around and Josh was anxious to go.

Andy and I took him and tried to prep him in case he didn't receive anything.

However, he had good coaches who recognized his strong character and awarded him with
the Perseverance award!

He was SO pleased!
This grin says it all :)
Andy and I commented multiple times throughout the season how proud we were of him and the wonderful strength he showed in his persistence and positive attitude.
He taught us a lot through his track experience this year.
We couldn't be more proud!

Matt had the Wellsville Mile mid May.

Look at that game face!

Multiple schools on this end of the valley come and participate.
It's a full day of fun for these 5th graders.

Crossing the finish line...

He did so awesome!

He sure was glad to be done though :)

  1. So proud of them both.
Josh has the true spirit of track. I always loved going to track meets because people cheered each other on, and encouraged each other.
I remember the Wellsville Mile days. :)
