San Diego Days 1&2 (July 5th &6th)

As a family we decided to go to San Diego for our summer vacation.
The first day we drove half way and spent the night in Mesquite NV.  That evening, in our hotel room, we were relaxing and watching t.v.  I started feeling like I was rocking back and forth...kind of like I was on a boat...
I hushed everyone and they all started noticing it too.  Andy looked out our door to the empty pool and the water was moving and lapping over the side of the pool.  Others had come out of their rooms and we decided we were feeling an earthquake.  It didn't last very long but looking online confirmed our suspicions.  It registered 7.1 and was over 200 miles away.  It was crazy!

The next day as we neared the California border we saw a super bright light in the distance.  As we got closer we realized it was a reflection and was coming from a huge solar farm...

After making it to San Diego and our hotel room, we changed into our Sunday clothes and found our way to the temple.
As a young woman this was my favorite temple.  I always wanted to visit but didn't know if I ever would have the chance.  Well, I finally had the chance and this is what met my view when we arrived...

It was kind of disappointing but it was still beautiful.
The kids were able to do baptisms and Josh took a turn being outside with Ben so I could go in and witness some of the ordinances.  It was a really neat experience for everyone.

A childhood dream was partially fulfilled :)

Afterward the kids changed in the car and we drove up to La Jolla and drove along the coast until dark and then found a place to eat.  Bubba's ended up being a hit...especially with Abby who loves bar-b-que.  We had a fun server from New York who made the experience all the more jolly.

I'm sad because I feel like for a while my camera was smudged and my pictures are all a bit blurry.
Oh well, you can still see the happy smiles on everyones faces :)

  1. In spite of the scaffolding, you still got some great photos at the temple.
It looks like everyone enjoyed the dinner choice. I'm not seeing the smudged lens effect.
Once with my old film camera I got some rolls of film developed only to find there had been moisture trapped in my lens somehow--lots of blurry photos--very disappointing.
