One of the main reasons I wanted to try and stay at Ko Olina was because of the beautiful lagoons with nice, gentle, shallow waters for Ben.
So Saturday was our 'fun in the sun' beach day :)
Ben didn't necessarily love the duck floaty we got for him...
He much preferred just sitting in the sand throwing the ball (and eventually wet sand again) into the water.
Josh preferred lounging on the duck and letting the water lap over him...
And Abby and Matt spent quite a bit of time searching for what they called "pocket pearls"...pretty, little shells and rocks :)
After we had all had our fill (except for maybe Ben) of the sun and water we went back to our rooms and ate and relaxed...we were pretty tired (except Ben again maybe)
We wanted another opportunity to use the boogie boards we had bought so we drove up along the west coast where we had been told were some great, lesser known beaches.
We were kind of disappointed :(
The west coast, outside of the resort, was kind of a sad, run down area...lots of homeless people and not very attractive communities. We did stop at one beach and Andy went and checked it out but it seemed more like a surfing beach (bigger waves) and everything was quite crowded... It was Lei Day which is a state holiday in Hawaii so that probably explains the hoards of people we saw at all the beaches.
In the end we drove back down to the resort and went down to the pools since Ben had been begging for more water. So, no boogie boarding but Ben got his water we had promised him...
We had heard that the sunsets were incredible so after getting out of the water we secured a spot facing the ocean and waited...
It ended up being worth it :)
