The morning of one of our first snows, the boys went out and made snow chairs :)
...and a cute little snowman
This year's ornaments were a bit time consuming but I enjoyed making them.
I started with wooden spools, painted them white and then wood burned a simple snowflake design on two sides (not that a spool has sides, but you know what I mean).
As I worked, the wood burning tips would bend in the tool and become less effective so I had to go through 2 or 3 tips to get the whole lot of them done.
This picture shows the difference between the old tip and a new one.
I decided both types had their unique charm though so I went ahead and gifted all of them.
After they were all burned I threaded charms, beads and buttons on to each one.
I made 120 of them.
This year I also had a new rolling pin to play with for my gingerbread cookies...
So fun! It added a nice bit of whimsy to my baking :)
This was our card...
We struggled with what to do with the extra two spaces and ended up with our two deceased pets.
I think it was Andy's or Abby's idea to put the halo and wings on them :)
I always struggle with the wording...and Andy wasn't thrilled that his calling as bishop was what I wrote for him but it just fit so well.
The song works in my head but I don't know if everyone that read it was able to fit it in just right like I did. It doesn't matter...you get the idea :)
Snow chairs--that is a new one on me. :)
ReplyDeleteI thought the ornaments were very pretty.
Do you have many of those rolling pins? Is it like me and my shortbread molds?
I thought the card was very clever, and the wings and halos were a nice touch. The song fit well for me--I sang it as I read.
