We started our day at the zoo with a bus tour...
Apparently we were lucky to see the polar bear...it's not usually out and about.
Ben actually spotted it and got semi excited about it :)
We saw lots of fun and exotic animals...
This monkey was definitely a fave!
Look at that face!...and those legs and feet!
Look at these cute monkeys!
We couldn't always get Ben to pay attention to the animals but every now and then he would see one and show some recognition and interest.
Here he was seeing the monkey below...
...we liked his little mohawk :)
The hippos were one of my favorites...
Matt's favorite animal is a panda bear. He was pretty excited to see them at the zoo.
Well, it just so happens that the pandas that had been there for over two decades had been removed literally just two months before our visit.
Another disappointment :(
Well, they did have a cute red panda that was a small consolation.
Josh's favorite animal is a sloth. They had one but he was hidden in his little box and didn't move an inch while we were there.
Here is Ben getting excited about the fish...
This was a fun monkey that put on quite a show for us...
I did not expect it but the koalas totally captured my heart...
I mean, just look at that cozy bundle just snoozing away.
The orangutans were a hoot!
Merill had said to be sure to see the Komodo dragons so we went in search of them. They were nowhere to be found! We saw lots of other fun things while we looked but eventually we asked someone and found out their exhibit was under construction and therefore were not visible to the public.
There was a sky tram that we all (except Ben) took turns riding...
This was a fun spotting of an anteater towards the end of our visit...
We had seen this puppet giraffe walking around earlier.
Right when we were getting ready to leave it came up to Ben and they had a moment together.
It was pretty sweet!
For dinner we found a fun little Mexican restaurant that had been recommended to us by Brother Richards. It was pretty tasty and a good way to end a full but fun day!
I love zoos. This looks like a really fun day.
ReplyDeleteBut it seems uncanny the way you finally see your favorite temple and it has scaffolding around it. Matt is excited to see the Pandas and they had recently been removed. Josh's favorite animal was hiding in a box, and the display Merill had told you not to miss happened to be closed.
But it appears there were plenty of things to see and do.
I have always thought koalas looked cute, but seeing that one snuggled up is cuter than I remember.
Very cute to see Ben show awareness for some animals, and I love his interaction with the "giraffe". It is also good to see that Josh and Matt recovered from being stomped by the giant lion.
