February Cookies

I can't remember how I got this idea in my head to do French Valentine cookies...well, that's not true, I wanted to do a set with a cute snail and then that made me think of escargot and France...and then Valentine's Day was coming up so it all just came together :)
Talking to my friend Megan we came up with this set...

We spent many hours on it together.  She was super generous with her time and talents and patient with my inexperience.

We made them for our fun workout friends and they loved them.

We did those a couple of weeks before Valentine's Day because of our schedules not coming together closer to the holiday, so for actual Valentine's Day I went solo and did a super similar set for Abby's French class.  I just thought it would be fun to have another opportunity to practice.

I had so much fun doing them but I was only able to do it because Megan had shown me how the first time!

When I was fresh out of High School I started working for a family with a little girl with severe autism.  They did a home school program that was pretty intense and I was one of her teachers.  She and her family were a huge part of my life for many years and I still visit her each year for her birthday.
She loves fish so I decided to make some fish themed cookies for her (just another chance to practice :)
I was really happy with how these turned out and they loved them!

Matt really enjoyed experimenting with the leftover cookies and icing :)...

Abby was asked to prom by a cute friend...her first date ever!

She was asked just past midnight on a Saturday night and after I went to bed I lay there with my thoughts just zinging around in my head.
I approached her after deciding I wouldn't be able to fall asleep without talking to her and offered to make cookies to answer him.  I told her my idea and she said she would think about it.
After a few days she was not able to come up with anything better so she agreed to let me make them :)

I hand cut all of these since I didn't have time to have cutters made.
They proved to be a bit more frustrating and I wasn't as happy with the results but they worked and apparently he really liked them :)
