Deep Canyon Birthday Trail

For T's birthday she wanted to hike the Welsvilles.
Andy, Matt and I joined her, Jo and their friend Hannah.

It had been quite a while since I had done that hike...I had forgotten how hard it could be.
It was so worth it though!  We had a great time and it was so fun getting to know Hannah!

T took some pictures of the three of us at the top but they were pretty blurry when they were sent to me so this is the most clear...although I'm not even looking at the camera.

Abby stayed with Ben for a long time while we were gone.  So grateful for her and the chance to hike as a partial family.

New Office & New Quilt

Andy cleaned out his old desk and made room for his successor, Brother Ashcroft

Andy's the new director at the Logan Institute of Religion.

Here's his new office and a fake smile because he is not happy about this assignment.

This picture was actually taken in May but it goes well with the rest of these pics.
This was at the closing dinner for the student teachers.
Bri was a fantastic secretary for Andy for one year.  We are sad to not have as much association with her anymore but at least for now we are in the same building still.

Happy Birthday Ben.
Bless his heart...he slept away most of his birthday after seizures.

That Sunday though we were able to get together with family and celebrate.
Mom had spent quite a bit of time on a new quilt for him.

He loved it when we sang happy birthday to him and he kept asking for more :)

Andy was the other man of the hour :)

Mission Moments

In the months of April and May there were two weeks that we got to speak with Josh three times in one week because of his regular day, birthdays and holidays.
It's such a far cry from the old days when you spoke to your missionary twice a year!

Happy Birthday Josh!

Gma Jannie put together Gpa Olsen's life history and we got it sent off to Josh for part of his birthday present!  He loved it and had already read it by the time we spoke to him (it had ripped through quite a bit of its wrapping paper in the mail so he went ahead and opened it and read it.  He saved the other gifts to open with us on the call)

He's been doing some nice posts on Facebook.  I just have to make a conscious effort to remember to check facebook since I'm not really on there for anything else.

Happy Birthday Dad!
It was the first time Gpa and Gma Bryan had done a video call with Josh on his mission so that was fun.

Also, Elder Lavaka sang happy birthday to Andy :)

Andy and Ben's Combined Celebration

The night we got home from Park City we gave Andy his gifts...most of which he had found for himself which is easier on us both :)

The next night we went out for dinner for both Andy and Ben.  Andy chose El Toro.  Ben was excited to go get food as usual but as soon as we parked and tried to get him out of the car he kept saying "no ea". I think he was expecting us to go through a drive through and didn't want to actually go inside to eat.  He kept saying it until his fries came and then he seemed to be okay :)

After dinner we went home and celebrated Ben's Day a night early.  Since multiple members of the family had other things going on June first and Ben wouldn't know the difference, we felt like it would be okay.

There was a helium shortage so I bought this big Mickey balloon at Macey's instead.

We sure love our Ben!
It ended up working out really well because Ben had seizures on his birthday and was really out of it so we were so happy we had celebrated early.
