Matt told me he wanted to celebrate his birthday a week late because he wanted the benefits of a Saturday birthday. His birthday landed on a Sunday this year, and not only a Sunday, but a General Conference Sunday :) That means the day before wouldn't work either because, it too, was General Conference.
What we ended up doing was spreading the celebration throughout the week...gifts and extended family gathering on his actual birthday and then cake and not having to practice the piano or do a job and 'dinner out' on different days throughout the following week.
One of his gifts was the game "Throw, throw Burrito" so we played it that afternoon as a family.
It was fun...and a bit dangerous :)

Matt is such a good young man!
He is friendly and kind.
I love that he likes to play with our young neighbors.
He is grateful and considerate.
I think he is excited to start this new phase of life where he can drive and date!
