The next day the whole goal was to do the walk/hike through the Hall of Mosses in the Hoh Rainforest just down the road a little way.
We started Ben out in his chair but it didn't take long before that was no longer an option on the trail and we had to carry it and make Ben walk.
Thankfully, there were a couple more times where it leveled out and he was able tot get back in.
We just had to do a little bit of back and forth but it all worked out
It really was a beautiful trail!
We didn't get any rain though until we were at the gift shops and headed back to the cabin
Several times during the hike, Andy said how it was awesome but really, he wasn't seeing anything very different than what he saw on his walk that morning that he had taken on a trail just out our cabin's front door. When w got back he encouraged me to choose one of the several trails marked in our front yard and go for a stroll.
I was not prepared for how amazing it would be!
It WAS much like we had just experienced in the Hoh but this time I was completely alone and it was such a unique feeling...almost eerie but in a really cool sort of way :)
I just loved soaking in all the green!
Oh, and I almost stepped on a couple of these buddies along the way!
The first one really surprised me but then I was looking for them before I put each foot down...it really slowed down my walking :)
I spent a good 30-45 minutes in the sanctuary of the forest with the sounds, sights and smells that were so foreign yet welcome to my soul.
The trail brought me out onto the road to our cabin...
I had noticed someone's handiwork on our drive in the first time and was now able to catch a few pics of these fun mushrooms!
Foxglove was everywhere in the area!
...as were the mushrooms!
This is the view from the front of the cabin looking into the forest...it was literally just right there!
Once we were all back and had hot chocolate in hand, the kids and I settled in for a game of Clue.
Abby had also gone for a walk and shared her findings of banana slugs :)
Some hat shenanigans with Ben that night...
