Ho'ike 2022

Matt participated in the Ho'ike this year by escorting Abby in as she represented the island of Oahu.

Probably the only time Matt will bow to Abby :)

Abby participated in 5 dances this year.
The first one was Ka Uluwehi O Ke Kai (Hawaiian)...

Next was poi balls (Maori)...

Then the Tahitian dance, Pate Pate...

Fourth was Sasa (Samoan)...

Last was Makaha (Hawaiian)
They used 5 different implements in this dance...so fun to watch!

Ile Ile (Rocks)

Pu Ile (Bamboo Sticks)

Ipu (Gourd)

Coconut Shells

Uli Uli (Feathered Gourds)

They all sing together at the end which is neat :)

Poor Sabrina, it was her last year dancing and she was quite emotional about it.

Lots of good support.
Dad and Jo came to but Dad ended up taking Ben home early since he was having a hard time sitting still once Andy and I were both called up on stage in the middle of the program to dance with some other adults.

Only one more year of hula for Abs :(
