December Odds and Ends/Nature's Beauty

One of my 25ish orchids is a jewel orchid...which are mostly grown for their foliage (not known for their flowers).  After several months of owning this beauty, she did in fact send up a bloom stem!
It was fun to watch it evolve over several weeks!
I think these first two pics were actually in November...

The full bloom pictures were taken in  January but I had to sneak them in here with the rest of the progress pics.

There was one local dance in December and this was my favorite set that I did.

I had some bouquets to gift in December and was really excited about some of the flowers I found...

Magnolia leaves, some really gorgeous mums, leucadendron and some astronova (a cool variety of alstroemeria)

Flowers in December...
I purchased a couple of pots of these fun wallflowers from Walmart in the spring.  They struggled through the summer but once the temps cooled down they really flourished.  With our super mild winter they were still blooming in December...and multiple times I noticed a cute little friend buzzing around...IN DECEMBER!  Crazy for our neck of the woods!

And then, lastly, less than a week before Christmas, as I was driving out to my parents home, big and bold...a rainbow.  It seriously seemed so strange to see this sight in December...I don't know, maybe it's not that unique but it sure seemed strange.
